A fellow named Will wrote me the following question:

I've only had the book for a brief time, so I only have one constructive question/comment right now.

And this is only because I fell into the category of one of your projects. I'm at work right now so I can't reference the text, but I believe the project title was something like "Installing a strut brace".

I really liked the pros/cons that you listed there, and explaining some of the myths about them, but I didn't see a procedure on how to install one. I know it only got a difficulty rating of 1, but I've seen a lot of posts asking how to do this, and I've seen some contradictory answers. Some say to jack the car up, others say never jack the car up. Some say to put the strut bolts on in a certain pattern, others don't.

Did I overlook that project write-up too quickly and miss the install description, or was the chapter more meant to describe why or why not to install one?

I ask because I've had a used Dinan front strut brace sitting in my garage for a while now. I just haven't had time to put it on. When I saw your write up I figured I could actually put one of your projects to the test right now, without having to buy any additional parts :)

This is a very good question.  As I wrote in the book, I firmly believe that these are primarily decorative and really serve no practical purpose, unless you install one that is super-rigid, and go racking on the track.  The "real" track cars have welded supports installed - funny how you never see these installed on track cars.  That said, you should install the brace with the car in a neutral position, with the car flat on the ground.
